Dubai stocks rebound 0.53%

Dubai Financial Market General Index (DFMGI) ended in the positive territory, adding 0.53%, or approx. 8 points. It opened in the red then hit its intraday low of 1595.94 pts. However, the benchmark regained lost ground to close at 1608.97 pts.

Trading volume neared 42.9 million shares, exchanged through 1123 transactions at a total value of almost AED 69.8 million.

Out of the 24 companies traded today, losers outnumbered gainers by 12 to 9, while 3 remained unchanged.

du top gainer, AMAN biggest loser

du was the best performer of the day, rocketing 3.45% to AED 3, followed by Takaful Emarat that leapt 2.10% to AED 0.73. The third rank was taken by Air Arabia that ended 1.11% higher at AED 0.821.

On the bearish front, AMAN was the major disappointment, tumbling 3.39% to AED 0.74. It was followed by GGICO that declined 1.80% to AED 0.49. Salam Bank – Sudan ranked third, falling 1.21% to AED 1.63.

Arabtec took the lead with a trading volume of more than 9.8 million shares and turnover of AED 18.2 million. The stock rose 1.09% to AED 1.85. Giant developer Emaar came second with a traded value of over AED 14 million, after exchanging 4 million shares. The stock climbed 3.41% to AED 0.89.

As for sectors, four headed north, three headed south, while two kept flat.

Telecommunication spearheaded advancers, jumping 3.45%, followed by Investment & Financial Services (0.67%), Real Estate & Construction (0.49%) and Transportation (0.43%).

On the other hand, Utilities was the biggest faller, dipping 0.61%, followed by Banks (0.05%) and Insurance (0.04%).
